Conceptual Explanation

Inclusion-sensitive educational materials are required to provide a well-founded justification for their access to diversity and their variance in the tasks for the teacher and for the learners. This requires a written conceptual basis that complements and frames the compiled learning tasks and relates them to one another in their internal consistency. The following questions focus on this area of criteria:

  • Are the internal structure of the educational material and the type of selected tasks comprehensible, consistent and clearly justified in their references to theoretical and empirical findings?

  • Are central terms and perspectives that guide the educational material clearly explained and convincingly defined?

  • Have the necessity and benefits of the learning status checks been explained in a comprehensible manner for both the teacher and the learners?

  • Are further sources and thematically related educational materials named in the conceptual basis that are of interest to the teachers or the learners and offer further orientation?

The central fundamentals of a qualitatively well thought-out educational material are its internal consistency and high quality through the appropriate addition of important references and additional information. What and how an educational material corresponds to this quality standard should be explained in a comprehensible manner for the teachers as well as for the learners. In order to fully reveal the perspectives contained in the educational material, explanations of the central understanding of terms (e.g. understanding of inclusion, equal opportunities) as well as the naming of relevant scientific sources (especially from the pedagogical, educational, technical and didactic areas) are required.
